Outside the Square Psychology is now a member of FaHCSIA's Early Intervention Provider Panel

Parents of children diagnosed with:

  • Autism,
  • Asperger Syndrome, or
  • PDD-NOS

prior to their 6th birthday may be able to access up to $6000 per annum, for up to two years towards early intervention services with recognised providers.

To read more about the 'Helping Children with Autism' initiative, including the early intervention funds, click here

To access the funds, parents must make an appointment to see an Autism Adviser. Autism Advisers are located at Autism Victoria. Phone 1300 308 699.

To use the funds for services at Outside the Square Psychology, parents must provide their 'letter of introduction'. This is obtained from the Autism Adviser when their appplication is approved.

Preschoolers with Autism Parent Education and Skills Training Program

This program was developed by Professor Bruce Tonge and Dr. Avril Brereton at Monash University. The program has been shown to significantly improve parental well-being and adjustment in the 12 months following the child's diagnosis of ASD. To read the research, click here

This course runs across 6 months, and is ideal for families who would like some regular support and behaviour management assistance over the year. Two parents or carers can attend the 20 hours of group sessions, and 10 individual sessions. Each family receives a program workbook.

Cost: $2140.00 per family

A discounted rate is available for parents paying for the course from their own funds (program cost is then $1980). Another alternative to using FaHCSIA funding for this program is for parents with a GP mental health care plan. These parents can receive rebates for 50% of the program cost from Medicare.
